Case Description:

Ustaz: Abdel Moniem Salman, is a well known Sudanese teacher and a leader of the banned Teachers' Trade Union. Despite his age and the fact that he suffered from diabetes, Mr. Salman was arrested by the NIF security elements in December 1989. He was taken to the infamous NIF "Ghost Houses" where he was subjected to severe, brutal and sustained torture !

In late December 1989, Abdel Moniem Salman was transferred to the Kober prison, despite the objection of prison authorities. In 16 February 1990, the NIF security apparatus decided to transfer him to the Shalla prison in West Sudan. In Shalla, his medical status started to deteriorate rapidly and he was subjected to several strokes of diabetes and loss of vision ! He was then transferred to Alfashir Hospital for medical treatment. 

In May 90, the Medial Office of Alfashir insisted on his transfer to Khartoum Hospital for further medical treatment, but the NIF security authorities refused the demand. In September 1990, Abdel Moniem Salman was transferred to the Military Hospital, Omdurman, and the medical staff decided that he must be sent abroad for an urgent medical treatment !

Unfortunately, the NIF security decided on 18 November 1990, and without prior notice, to return all patient political prisoners to the Kober prison !

At 2:00 AM, on the morning of 21 January 1991, Salman's physical and health situation deteriorated and he experienced difficulty in breathing and chest pain. The doctors whom were arrested with him at that time evaluated his medical condition. These doctors were as follows:

1/ Dr. Abdel Moniem Hassan Elshaikh, MD 2/ Dr. Saad Alagraa, MD
3/ Dr. Hamouda Fath Elrahman, MD

Since the Kober prison did not have any equipment or medications all efforts to save Salman's life went in vain ! The prisoners of Kober prison decided to protest his terrible situation and they started to shout, scream and call on the prison guards, even hit the iron doors by hands and throw stones, but no one was their 
to help !

When the prison opened its internal doors at 6:00 AM, the martyr Abdel Moniem Salman had already died. It was a very painful and sad day for all the prisoner inside Kober prison ! 

The NIF regime is held fully responsible for the murder of Abdel Moniem Salman. Those security agents who had participated in his torture are still at large !
