Case Description:

Death Due To Torture

In September of 1997, the Sudanese National: Rashid Hassan, who lives in the Arkawit quarter of Khartoum, was sent the corps of her dead son from the security authorities. The family was instructed not to uncover the dead body or to send it to (Illegal arabic?) in order to disclose the real cause of death. The dead man was severly tortured during his detention at the Economic Security Center. They tried to convince the family that thier son had jumped from a fifth sory window. The family refused to believe this story. the authorities offered a sum of money to the family to try to close the whlole affair. The only eyewitness to this case has disappeared and his whereabouts are unknown.
