Case Description:
Martyr: Amin Badawi Ibrahim Al-Sayed, is a citizen of Atbara town and a teacher who graduated from Atbara Secondary School who then joined the teaching profession, the same field of his father, Mr. Badawi Ibrahim.
Amin was arrested earlier in 1990 by the NIF security forces and then transferred with other detainees to Kober prison where he stayed behind bars for close to one year and then was released.
On 4th of October 1997, Amin was again arrested from his house in "Al-Doroshab" with his brother and a visitor who was staying with him. The three victims were forced to walk from Al-Doroshab until the security office in Khartoum. On the following day, the Security Forces released Amin's brother and his visitor, but not Amin Badawi, who was getting prepared for his marriage !
The security personnel informed his family that Amin is their only target and that they have been looking for him for a long time !
In the NIF torture cells and infamous Ghost Houses, Amin Badawi was subjected to continuos and sever torture until he died on 17 October 1997. His body was transferred to the Khartoum Hospital.
Amin's younger brother was called by the security forces to identify his body. He discovered that Amin has died as a result of severe torture. The family was forced to bury the body on the same day and to accept condolences at their former residence in Atbara city, 170 miles from their present residence at Khartoum.
